LANGKAWI, Nov 12 (Bernama) — The death toll in the boat capsize incident at the Malaysia-Thailand border waters off Langkawi has risen to 25 people with the discovery of three more bodies this afternoon.
The Director of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) for Kedah and Perlis, First Admiral (Maritime) Romli Mustafa, said a Marine Police Force boat found the body of a man floating in the sea near Pulau Rebak Besar at 3:16 pm.
“At 3:20 pm, the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) found another male body floating in the waters near Tanjung Hulor. A few minutes later, a JBPM aircraft also detected another male body near Pulau Rebak Besar.
“All the bodies found have been brought to a nearby jetty before being handed over to the police for further action,” he said in a statement today.
He added that today’s operation was suspended at 7:30 pm and will resume tomorrow at 7:30 am.
