TUARAN: Relations between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) remain strong despite the two coalitions fielding candidates in the same seat in the 17th Sabah General Election.
BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said there was no strain in cooperation between the two coalitions, both of which have announced their respective candidates for the Karamunting seat.
“Earlier, before and after the Cabinet meeting, we discussed the matter.
“We also discussed it yesterday. There is no issue,” he told reporters after attending the Sentuhan Kasih Desa @ Tuaran event today.
Zahid was asked whether BN and PH contesting the same seat in the Sabah polls would affect political cooperation between the two coalitions.
PKR is fielding Datuk George Hiew to defend Karamunting, while BN has nominated Chin Kim Hiung as its candidate.
“Although it may appear that there is a physical clash, the matter has already been discussed and negotiated.
“This means there is an understanding for the seat,” Zahid added.
