A 53-year-old man from Johor won RM73.1 million in the Supreme Toto 6/58 jackpot last month after taking a punt with a combination of his family members’ birth dates.
The technician who works in Singapore said he usually played the Toto 4D and 6D games but decided to try his luck with the Supreme Toto game.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that the numbers matched. I was completely stunned.
“I couldn’t sleep at all that night. I kept thinking that this is truly an answered prayer for me and my family,” he said in a press release by STM Lottery Sdn Bhd.
The man said he plans to use his winnings to settle his housing loan and other financial commitments, and then save the rest for his children.
Another man from Johor also won RM10.7 million in the Toto 4D Jackpot 1 game last month after placing a bet with a set of numbers derived from his age, his wife’s age and their house address.
The retired teacher, 88, said he had been taking punts based on this combination for years, and had won a few hundred thousand ringgit in the past.
“At first I panicked and worried that I might have forgotten to place the bet. When I found the ticket and confirmed it, I was so relieved and overjoyed,” he said, adding that he would share his jackpot with his family and donate a portion of it to charity.
