Two bills, including one on Islamic religious schools, will be tabled at the upcoming Perak state assembly sitting from Sept 9 to 11, says speaker Zahir Abdul Khalid.
Zahir said Perak menteri besar Saarani Mohamad would table the Islamic Religious Schools Control Enactment (Perak) 2025 and Islamic Religious Administration Enactment (Perak) (Amendment) 2025.
“In addition, there will also be an oral question-and-answer session for 90 minutes during the sitting,” Bernama quoted him as saying at a press conference at the Perak Darul Ridzuan building.
Separately, Zahir said state opposition leader Razman Zakaria remains barred from attending the sitting as his six-month suspension is still in effect.
“He is not only prohibited from entering, but matters related to the state assembly, including special select committees, are also subject to the suspension.
“However, as an elected representative, he may still carry out his responsibilities in his constituency,” he said.
Razman, the Gunung Semanggol assemblyman, was suspended on April 16 after a motion was passed following a referral by the state assembly rights and privileges committee.
The committee investigated him for issuing a false statement regarding the hoisting of China‘s national flag in Teluk Intan on Dec 2, 2023.
