Bersatu warns against associating with suspended or expelled members

KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu has warned its members against meeting, engaging with, or attending events organised by those facing disciplinary action from the party.

In an internal circular issued by party secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, the reminder was directed towards all Bersatu members.

“Any party member who collaborates with or supports those punished by the Disciplinary Board is clearly violating the Party Constitution and Code of Conduct,” he said in the internal document sighted by the New Straits Times.

He said Article 22.1(f) of the party’s constitution does not allow party members to conspire with external parties including those who have faced disciplinary action for inciting members or making statements that tarnish the reputation and honour of the party.

He added that those who have been punished may submit an appeal of the decision.

“The party will take action against those who breach the constitution.

“I seek the cooperation of state leaderships and all party members to uphold the party constitution and to love Bersatu as an inclusive and progressive platform for the future of our people and beloved Malaysia,” the statement read.

Earlier this month, the disciplinary board suspended Machang member of Parliament Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal’s party membership for one term and expelled Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council member Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan, along with four division chiefs, over disciplinary breaches.

Other Bersatu leaders and members sacked from the party are Mohd Azrudin Md Idris, Mohd Faizal Asmar, Mohd Fadhli Ismail and Mohd Isa Mohd Said.
