SHAH ALAM: Bersatu must tackle sensitive ethnic issues with a clear and united narrative, says the party’s associate wing.
The wing’s chief Dr Chong Fatt Full said issues such as Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) recognition or the status of vernacular schools cannot be avoided.
“They are always used and politicised, especially when nearing the elections.

“We must avoid clashing voices. When we are united, the rakyat will be confident in us, when we are not, it can cause confusion,” he said when winding up debates at the party’s general assembly here on Sunday (Sept 7).
Chong also addressed the openness of Perikatan Nasional, of which Bersatu is a component party, towards Barisan Nasional components MIC and MCA.
“Real support, however, does not come solely from a party’s name. We must build our own strengths,” he said.
Chong said the party must bring a realistic vision of unity, not just a slogan.
“We must convince the rakyat that the party is ready to listen and find fair solutions,” he added.

Bersatu Srikandi Muda (Young Women’s wing) chief Nurul Ezzati Azmi, meanwhile, said the party is ready to prove its credentials in the coming Sabah state elections.
“Here, our wing brings new hope. We are hoping to have the opportunity to join the battle there,” she said when winding up debates.
She stressed that Srikandi Muda is not just there to fill quotas, but to bring real change.
“We must be agents of change who bring new energy and continuously elevate the party,” she said.
