A Bersatu leader has lodged a police report over an audio clip featuring the voice of an individual, allegedly that of Melaka chief minister Ab Rauf Yusoh, which has spread over social media.
At a press conference today, Bersatu deputy information chief Ali Mohamad claimed that the audio clip was connected to his arrest by the police last year.
He had mentioned the police arrest in a Facebook post on April 15 but did not go into the specifics of his arrest.
Yesterday, Berita Harian reported Rauf as dismissing news of several audio clips, purportedly featuring his voice, being shared on social media, calling them part of a “political game” to destroy his character.
He said he was unaffected by these audio clips and did not see the need to lodge a police report.
Previously, the media reported that a three-minute, 57-second audio clip, purportedly featuring Rauf’s voice, had spread on social media a day after he denied involvement in Ali’s arrest by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission on April 15.
Lawyer Rafique Rashid Ali said the MACC’s arrest of Ali was to help in its investigation into allegations of bribery.
Melaka opposition leader Dr Yadzil Yaakub then urged Rauf to make a police report if he had nothing to do with the audio clips.
