MOSCOW, Dec 17 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) — France’s High Planning Commission has estimated the cost of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris at €2.8 billion (over US$3.2 billion), Sputnik/RIA Novosti reported, citing the Europe 1 radio.
The Commission’s estimate of €2.8 billion is significantly lower than that of the French Court of Auditors, which estimated the cost of the Olympic Games at €6.6 billion back in Sept 2024, Europe 1 reported on Tuesday.
Unlike the French Court of Auditors, the Commission also takes into account the positive impact of the games on employment and infrastructure in France.
The Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo will host the 2026 Winter Olympic Games from Feb 6-22, and the Winter Paralympics from March 6-15.
