BERNAMA - National WPS Action Plan Boosts Women’s Role In National Development

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 (Bernama) — The National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) 2025-2030, launched last Tuesday, is an important step in strengthening the role of women as pillars of peace, security, and national development, said  .

The executive chairman of think tank Polity said the plan, launched by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM), also underscores Malaysia’s commitment to United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 1325.

“Moreover, it sends the message that women’s voices, leadership, and protection are central to building peace and ensuring inclusive and sustainable national development.

“The four main pillars of this plan — perspective, prevention, participation, and protection — provide a clear framework to translate the WPS agenda into tangible results that impact the lives of ordinary citizens,” she said in a statement today.

said the real challenge lies in the implementation of the action plan, noting that efforts to build peace cannot remain merely as policies on paper, but must be brought to life within households, neighbourhoods, and communities.

“Only in this way can we safeguard the region’s future from conflict, crises, and ongoing threats to our security,” she added.

She said this matter will be among the key focuses at the Southeast Asia Women Leadership Conference 2025: WPS, organised by Polity on Sept 30, which will feature regional voices such as Dwi Rubiyanti Kholifah, Prof Tan Sri Jemilah Mahmood and Dr Amina Rasul-Bernardo.
