KOTA BELUD, Sept 1 (Bernama) — Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) has dispersed RM1.48 billion to 317,260 entrepreneurs nationwide during the first six months of this year.
Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said from this amount, RM178.14 million has been distributed to 30,288 entrepreneurs in Sabah.
“For the Kota Belud area, AIM distributed RM15.57 million in financing to 1,935 entrepreneurs, while RM3.4 million was disbursed to 1,312 entrepreneurs in Kadamaian.
“I hope this financing can be continued to support informal entrepreneurs and small business owners across the country,” he said in a statement after officiating the ‘AIM Mini Karnival Sahabat Usahawan’ here today.
At the ceremony, a cheque of RM15.57 million for AIM financing, amounting to RM15.57 million, was presented to the Kota Belud branch. Also present was AIM managing director Datuk Mohamed Shamir Abdul Aziz.
Ewon said Sabah recorded the highest number of Sahabat AIM, totalling 52,680 people, including 3,570 from the Kota Belud branch.
Meanwhile, he said the mini carnival was very important as a platform to strengthen ties among AIM Sahabat, in addition to encouraging small entrepreneurs to adopt digital payments.
The carnival was also enlivened by the MADANI Sales programme, organised by the Cooperative Commission of Malaysia (SKM), which offered discounts of up to 20 per cent on daily necessities, a best traditional costume competition and a traditional Hinava cooking competition.
He also expressed appreciation to Sabahat AIM who successfully revitalised the microeconomy in the district, and recognised AIM’s efforts in helping rural women escape poverty and become successful small entrepreneurs.
