Beggar fatally stabbed in turf war over begging spot in Shah Alam

SHAH ALAM: A man was fatally stabbed during a dispute over a begging spot in front of a bank in Section 18 earlier today.

Shah Alam district police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said that preliminary investigations revealed the victim, aged 40 and a beggar in the area, had argued with the suspect, another beggar, who allegedly sought to take over the location.

“The male suspect then took out a knife and stabbed the victim in his chest several times until the victim fell unconscious,” he said in a statement today.

The police arrested the 28-year-old suspect at approximately 12.30pm following a tip-off. The suspect was found to have nine prior criminal records.

“The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” he added, noting that the suspect would be brought for a remand application tomorrow.

Mohd Iqbal urged anyone with information on the incident to contact investigating officer ASP Muhammad Abd Hafiz Sariee at 014-8905051 to assist in the investigation.– BERNAMA
