Barisan Nasional wins both the Kinabatangan parliamentary and Lamag state by-elections, defeating Warisan candidates in the contests.
PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional (BN) successfully defended both the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat and the Lamag state seat in today’s by-elections, according to unofficial results.
The outcome was announced by Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh in a brief Facebook post.
“Thank God, Kinabatangan and Lamag remained with BN. Thank you to all!!” wrote the Merlimau assemblyman.

In Kinabatangan, the late Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin’s son, Mohd Kurniawan Naim, emerged victorious over Parti Warisan’s Saddi Abdul Rahman and independent candidate Goldam H Salangah.
Meanwhile, BN candidate Mohd Ismail Ayob secured the Lamag state seat after defeating Warisan’s Mazliwati Abdul Malek.
The by-elections were held following the death of Bung Moktar on Dec 5.
