SEPANG: Ducati Lenovo’s Francesco Bagnaia claimed a dominant MotoGP sprint race win in the Petronas Grand Prix of Malaysia today (Oct 25) as Alex Marquez secured second place overall in the championship.
Bagnaia, who qualified on pole, led from start to finish at the Sepang Circuit, taking the chequered flag in 19 minutes and 53.725 seconds.
BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP’s Marquez was second across the line (+2.259s) with his teammate Fermin Aldeguer (+3.138s) completing the podium.
Marquez’s placing was enough to secure him second place overall in the MotoGP standings this season with an unassailable 388 points.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Pedro Acosta (+5.155s) and Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team’s Franco Morbidelli (+6.541s) rounded out the top five in the sprint race.
