PASIR PUTEH: A baby boy was found abandoned at a bus stop in Jalan Lama Kulim near the Tok Bali fishing jetty here today.

District police chief Superintendent Zaizul Rizal Zakaria said police received a call from a member of the public about 1pm who came across the newborn.

“Initial investigations revealed that the baby, who was found alive, appeared to be physically healthy and fully formed.

“It was wrapped in kain pelikat (a traditional cloth) and left on the floor of the bus stop.

“The baby was immediately taken to Hospital Tengku Anis for further medical examination and treatment,” he said.

He added that police were investigating the case for exposure and abandonment of a child under 12 years old.

They are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting Pasir Puteh district police district or calling the hotline at 09-7862005.
