KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 (Bernama) — The film “Babah” won six awards, including Best Film at the 34th Malaysia Film Festival (FFM34) that just concluded at Seri Angkasa Auditorium, Angkasapuri Kota Media here tonight.
The film beat four other finalists for Best Film – Soloz: Game of Live (Key Billions Sdn Bhd), Takluk: Lahad Datu (Multimedia Film Productions Sdn Bhd), Reversi (Act 2 Pictures Sdn Bhd, Clover Film Sdn Bhd, Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd & K-Movie Entertainment) – to win the award, along with the Creative Content Fund incentive worth RM1,000,000 and a trophy.
The award was presented by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, in the presence of Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching, Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa, National Film Development Corporation (Finas) chairman Datuk Hans Isaac and Finas chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Azmir Saifuddin.
Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) CEO Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin was also present at the event.
Babah’s two main stars Qi Razali and Sweet Qismina won the Best Actor and Best Actress Awards respectively, and the film also won Best Screenplay, Best Original Story and director Mohd Shah Faizul Ibrahim won the Most Promising Director Award.
Babah was not the only film to shine at FFM34, as Blood Brothers: Bara Naga also won six awards – The Special Box Office Award, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Stunt Direction, Best Cinematography and Best Theme Song.
Ejen Ali The Movie 2 and Takluk: Lahad Datu won the Special Jury Awards while veteran actor Datuk Ahmad Tarmimi Siregar was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the film industry.
Each winner received RM5,000 and a trophy while Special Award winners received RM10,000 and a trophy.
