KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) is implementing a comprehensive traffic management plan with highway concessionaires and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for the 47th ASEAN Summit.
The summit will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from October 26 to 28.
LLM said the initiative follows Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi’s directive to ensure smooth and safe movement for heads of state, government, and international delegates.
“The summit will bring together heads of state and government and high-level delegations from across the region and beyond, requiring close coordination and proactive measures,“ it said in a statement.
LLM has established strategic cooperation with PDRM, other enforcement agencies, and highway concessionaires for the traffic plan.
All highway traffic support systems are being maintained at optimal levels for effective monitoring and control.
These systems include variable message signs, closed-circuit television cameras, and the Traffic Monitoring Centre.
All maintenance and construction works involving lane closures on major highways will be temporarily suspended from October 23 to 29.
This suspension excludes emergency cases and aims to ensure smooth travel between the airport and city centre.
LLM advised highway users travelling around the Klang Valley and KLCC areas to plan journeys in advance.
Motorists should check current traffic updates through official channels and comply with police instructions.
They are reminded to stay alert to official announcements on traffic diversions along major Kuala Lumpur routes between October 23 and 28.
The public can visit official social media pages of LLM and highway concessionaires for latest traffic updates.
They may also contact LLM’s Traffic Monitoring Centre via its toll-free line at 1-800-88-7752. – Bernama
