KUALA LUMPUR: The nation’s arts fraternity is mourning the loss of traditional orchestra conductor Mohd Yazid Zakaria, who led the performance during the recent Asean gala dinner, following his passing on Wednesday (Oct 29), says Datuk Seri Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister expressed his sadness in a Facebook post Wednesday, saying it was a major loss to Malaysia’s traditional music scene, as the late Mohd Yazid was celebrated not only for his musical talent but for his lifelong dedication to using music as a medium to unite and uplift the nation’s spirit.

“Truly, his passing is a great loss to the nation’s artistic community.

“The late Mohd Yazid was not only a talented conductor but also a man of noble spirit who used music as a medium to unite hearts and enrich the soul of the nation,” said in his Facebook post.

also conveyed his heartfelt gratitude for all Mohd Yazid’s contributions and service in elevating the prestige of Malaysia’s traditional music.

He said the late conductor’s dedication would always be remembered and will continue to inspire future generations.

Anwar added that he was informed that the late Mohd Yazid’s child was due to be married on Nov 1 and prayed that Allah grant the family strength and fortitude in facing this profound loss.

“May his soul be blessed with mercy and placed among the righteous,” he added.
