KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 — An outrider of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) was injured in an accident at the Dengkil Rest & Recreation exit while heading northbound on the Elite Highway here yesterday.

Bukit Aman JSPT Director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the accident at 1pm involved a 35-year-old corporal who was riding a Kawasaki GTR motorcycle belonging to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

He said the corporal’s motorcycle collided with a Toyota Hilux four-wheel drive vehicle at the exit of the Dengkil R&R while escorting an international delegation in conjunction with the 47th Asean Summit.

“Due to the accident, the outrider suffered a fractured left calf, injured his left ankle and left knee and is currently receiving treatment at Cyberjaya Hospital,” he said when contacted after a video recording of the incident went viral on social media.

He said the cause of the accident was still under investigation under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

In this regard, Mohd Yusri advised the motoring public to be aware of convoy movements during the Asean Summit and related summits which conclude on Tuesday. — Bernama
