NABAWAN: Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah president Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup will contest the Sook state seat under Barisan Nasional in a five-cornered fight.
The Deputy Agriculture and Food Security Minister faces Gabungan Rakyat Sabah candidate Datuk Ellron Angin, Ireneus Pagut @ Jreneus Pagut of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku, Joseph Peter Tinggi of Parti Warisan and V. Chong Vin @ Siau Ho of Parti Impian Sabah.
Returning officer Marshal Anthony @ Idham announced the candidate list for the 17th Sabah State Election.
The neighbouring Nabawan state seat will witness a nine-cornered contest.
GRS candidate Datuk Abdul Ghani Mohd Yassin faces BN candidate Laui Ompongoh, Alfiqn A. Koroh of Warisan, Sayau Tangkap of Perikatan Nasional, Akuang Suan of STAR, Jinulin Kilan of UPKO, Jekerison Kilan of KDM, Rejoh Ondoh of PIS and Farney Akon of Parti Kebangsaan Sabah.
Tulid state seat features an exceptionally crowded 14-cornered clash.
Pakatan Harapan candidate Rufinah Pengeran faces Dr Aisat Ellik Igau Inggau of KDM, Mohd Khairil Abdullah of UPKO, Datuk Everitus Gungkit of STAR, Lucia Kihing of Warisan, Jufina Dimis of Parti Rumpun Sabah, Vinsin Rusikan of PKS and Ancis @ Rayner Francis Udog of PIS.
Six Independent candidates also contest the Tulid seat: Jordan Jude Eleron, Datuk Sumey Yasambun, Engah Sintan, Lautis Anggang, Edwin Lamin and Clarence Carter Mataat.
The Election Commission set polling day for November 29 with early voting on November 25. – Bernama
