KUALA LUMPUR: An alleged armed robber with a record of 44 prior criminal and drug offences was shot dead following a shootout with police.

The incident happened at about 4.10am today along Jalan Bukit Tunku, said Bukit Aman acting Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Fadil Marsus.

“Police were monitoring the 36-year-old suspect, who had a record involving 44 prior offences including robbery, violent crime, house break-in and drug-related offences,” he said.

“We believe this suspect was the ringleader of the group,” Fadil said.
