KUALA LUMPUR: Reconciliation is an act of courage, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as he thanked Thailand and Cambodia for their peace pact.
“Our strength lies not in uniformity, but in the conviction that respect and reason still bind us together,” he said on Sunday (Oct 26).
“Later this morning, when Cambodia and Thailand sign their peace agreement in Kuala Lumpur, the world will see what that conviction can achieve,” he added.
“It reminds us that reconciliation is not a concession, but an act of courage and that peace, once chosen, can reshape the future of nations,” he said.
“Thank you Prime Minister of Thailand and Prime Minister of Cambodia,” he added.
Anwar said that despite rising uncertainties across regions, understanding and dialogue can still prevail in a divided age.
Thailand and Cambodia are set to sign a joint declaration on relations, which will be witnessed by United States President Donald Trump and Anwar.
The signing follows a ceasefire after a border dispute between the two countries.
