Anwar says Malaysia's growth must uphold morals and values

: Malaysia’s pursuit of rapid economic growth and digital transformation must remain grounded in morals, humanity and values, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim.

said that while countries worldwide are racing ahead in digitalisation, trade transitions and artificial intelligence, Malaysia’s Madani framework sets itself apart by placing morality and values at its core.

“We speak of a world striving for rapid and impressive development, yet losing its sense of humanity and moral character. That is why we must make more determined efforts to realise the ideals of a Madani nation,” he said in his speech at the International Sama’ Hadith Sahih Muslim 2025, held at Masjid Putra here.

added that Malaysia must keep pace in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, digital innovation and new areas of knowledge.

“However, progress must not come at the expense of lasting strength—particularly by affirming beliefs and safeguarding human values. This also means enhancing human dignity by embedding ethics and values across education, the economy, technology and governance,” he said.

He noted that the Madani government is the only administration to have succeeded not only in emphasising the study of the Al-Quran.

“We support efforts both in conventional schools as well as in religious and pondok schools. Starting this year, we will also focus on activating mosques and deepening hadith studies, which began last year with the successful completion of Sahih Bukhari, and this year Sahih Muslim.”

It is estimated that over 15,000 attended the event, in addition to at least 2,000 participants attending daily throughout the event, which began on Nov 19.

The programme included dialogue sessions, presentations of hadith chains (sanad), references to original texts of respected scholars, as well as scholarly discussions between local and international academics, positioning Malaysia as a platform for the systematic and authoritative coordination of knowledge.
