He was greeted upon arrival at the complex about 4.30pm by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Negaraku and the Turkish anthem Istiklal Marsi were then played, with the two leaders then inspecting an honour guard mounted by the Presidential Guard Regiment.
Anwar and Erdogan then proceeded to hold a four-eyed meeting before co-chairing an inaugural High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) meeting.
Tomorrow, Anwar will attend a roundtable discussion with Turkish corporations in Istanbul.
