PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has directed that technical disruptions at Malaysia’s entry points, including the recent autogate failure at the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex, must not happen again nationwide as the country prepares for Visit Malaysia 2026.
The directive was conveyed by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail during a high-level coordination meeting convened after the incident, Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said.
Speaking after the presentation of appointment letters to MCBA commanders here, Shuhaily acknowledged public frustration over repeated autogate disruptions at BSI and personally apologised to affected travellers.
He said the prime minister had placed “extremely high emphasis” on preventing a repeat of the incident, particularly with the expected surge in visitor arrivals this year.
