ISTANBUL: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today received a visit from former international footballer Mesut Ozil during a meeting here.
Anwar said the meeting provided an opportunity for them to share experiences and exchange views on various current issues, including matters concerning the interests of Muslims and the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
“As a Manchester United supporter, I had the opportunity to receive a visit from former Arsenal star Mesut Ozil in Istanbul.
“He is now actively involved in Turkiye’s AK Party,” he said in a statement.
Anwar also praised Ozil for his continued commitment to various international humanitarian initiatives.
“As a light-hearted aside, our conversation also touched on my grandchild, who is a die-hard supporter of The Gunners, which brought a smile to his face,” he said.
During the meeting, Anwar also took the opportunity to invite Ozil to visit Malaysia to share his experiences related to football, leadership, humanitarian values, and the role of youth in championing justice and global solidarity.
