KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had a brief encounter with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un while attending a parade at Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
In a Facebook posting today, Anwar said the meeting happened by chance as both leaders were among the guests present at the event.
He added that he managed to exchange greetings with Kim during the occasion.
“Coincidentally, I met the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, who was also present to witness the parade at Tiananmen Square.
“We shook hands and exchanged pleasantries,” he said.
Anwar is on a four-day working visit in Tianjin, China, which includes attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit 2025.
