KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today launched the National Heart Institute (IJN) University College, using the occasion to call for a healthcare and education system rooted in compassion that leaves no Malaysian behind.
He explained that his concept of a Madani government values not just knowledge and technology, but also empathy, which must remain central to the medical profession.
“Our collective duty is to ensure inclusivity,” Anwar said in his address.
“Development means little if certain groups, whether by ethnicity, region, or income, are left behind.”
The prime minister said this philosophy is reflected in his administration’s priorities, noting that the two largest federal budget allocations have consistently been directed towards education and healthcare.
He described the new university college as an embodiment of these two national priorities.
“This nation can rise to greatness through quality education and a caring health system that ensures no citizen is denied proper medical treatment,” he said.
Anwar also said that starting next year, the government will ensure full assistance for children from the poorest families, adding that institutions like IJN must share this “moral responsibility as a fundamental duty.”
