Anwar jokes about getting 'White House pen' in playful banter with Trump at deal signing

KUALA LUMPUR: A light-hearted exchange between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim and United States President Donald added a personal touch to the formal signing of the US-Malaysia Reciprocal Trade Agreement today.

Both leaders appeared to connect effortlessly, exchanging warm smiles and friendly remarks as they prepared to formalise the landmark deal.

As the two leaders reached for their pens, quipped, “I think I’m going to get this pen,” drawing smiles from those in attendance.

While signing the document, glanced at ‘s signature and commented, “Interesting signature.”

Anwar responded with a grin, saying, “Not as interesting as yours.”

chuckled and added, “That’s an interesting signature he’s got. Wait a minute, I’ll show that.”

As Trump completed his characteristically bold signature, Anwar held up his pen and joked, “White House pen,” drawing more smiles from the audience.

Immediately after placing his signature, Trump placed his pen near Anwar’s and proceeded to show the Malaysian leader’s signature to those present.

“It is very different…very good…very artistic,” he said, eliciting applause from the attendees.

In a final friendly gesture, Trump handed his pen to Anwar, who was later seen placing it carefully into his suit pocket, a light-hearted moment that underscored the cordial ties and camaraderie between the two leaders on a day of historic bilateral cooperation.
