Anwar joins world leaders at China’s Victory Day parade marking 80 years since WWII

BEIJING, Sept 3 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim joined foreign leaders and dignitaries at the Victory Day Parade to mark 80 years after the end of World War II in Tiananmen Square, this morning. 

and wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail arrived at the Square at 8.30 am and were greeted by Chinese President Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng Liyuan. 

According to Chinese Foreign Ministry, 26 foreign leaders are attending the massive military parade.

Among them are Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, and Myanmar’s acting President Min Aung Hlaing.

Tens of thousands of people are also attending the commemorative event, which is broadcast live by Chinese media. 

Xi who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission addressed the rally and review the parade.

The parade will involve more than 10,000 military personnel, along with over 100 aircraft and hundreds of ground armaments, arranged into formations according to a wartime command system.

The People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) new system of services and arms, including unmanned intelligence and counter-unmanned equipment, hypersonic missiles, directed-energy weapons, electronic jamming systems, and strategic weaponry will be put on display for the first time during the parade, showcasing ‘s advanced armaments. — Bernama
