GYEONGJU: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s criticism of the Malaysia-United States Reciprocal Trade Agreement should not be taken seriously as it is based on inaccurate information.
He said the claim made by the former prime minister was not based on factual scrutiny, but instead relied on briefings from a third party that were clearly inaccurate.
“Just leave Tun Mahathir alone. Why bother him? If he is angry, he will just continue to be angry, so let him be.
“I don’t think we should take his views seriously as he is relying on whatever briefing he received. Surely he is not going to scrutinise everything in detail, analyse it, or trace the content. No,” he said.
Anwar was speaking to the media after the first day of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Economic Leaders’ Meeting here.
