KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 — RM1.4 billion has been allocated for the disabled community under Budget 2026, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim announced today during the tabling of the federal budget.

The monies will support the chronically ill, individuals unable to work, and allowances for disabled workers.

“This year we established the Autisme Centre in Semenanjung Malaysia while the Private Pensioners Administrator (PPA) has expanded its functions to Labuan, Sabah and Sarawak which will benefit 13,000 handicapped and autistic families,” he said during the Budget 2026 announcement today.

said that Prasarana will provide 100 special mobility vehicles equipped with wheelchair access, each capable of carrying up to three wheelchair users at a time.

The government will also provide them with income tax exemptions, with tax relief for medical tests and early intervention programmes for children below the age of 18 increased to RM10,000 from RM6,000.

“Since March 2023, 200,000 people are free from the shackles of bankruptcy. To defend single parents, micro-entrepreneurs affected by the crisis, scam victims, as well as victims of abandoned projects, the Second Chance Policy Fast Track was introduced to speed up the process through simpler and targeted methods.

“RM15 million ringgit is allocated to empower the Second Chance programme for the benefit of 1,700 individuals including former addicts at the drug rehabilitation centre and second chance opportunity for 3,000 ex-convicts who are not getting family support by giving them start-up incentives to generate income,” added.
