KOTA TINGGI: The Anti-Bullying Tribunal Bill is expected to be tabled at the upcoming October parliamentary sitting, earlier than the six-month timeline given by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said her ministry is currently conducting a series of roadshows and engagement sessions with various stakeholders before presenting the matter to the cabinet, which is expected to happen at the end of this month.

“With the agreement of several ministers directly and indirectly involved, such as the education minister, higher education minister, defence minister and communications minister, we hope to conclude the roadshows by September.

“We aim to get cabinet approval by the end of September or early October so that this bill can be tabled in parliament this October,” she told a press conference at the Asean-level Children’s Legal Aid Convention (ACLAC) 2025 at the Desaru Coast Conference Centre here today.

Azalina said through these roadshows, the government wants to gather public feedback on the proposed establishment of the tribunal, as it is seen as a way to expedite hearings compared to lengthy court proceedings.

Zahid was reported as saying that the government has set a six-month deadline to produce a new draft law aimed at tackling bullying.
