World No 4 shuttlers Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei silenced the home crowd in Paris to create badminton history again for Malaysia by being the first national mixed-doubles pair to enter the final of the World Championships.
They followed Pearly Tan-M Thinaah who became the first Malaysian pair in the women’s doubles final since the world championships began in 1977.
Tang Jie-Ee Wei overcame world No 8 pair Delphine Delrue-Thom Gicquel in 51 minutes in the semi-final at the Adidas Arena with a score of 21-18, 21-16 despite the strong home ground support for the French pair.
In the final tomorrow, the Malaysians will take on China‘s world No 2 pair Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin.
