National men’s doubles shuttlers Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani’s lean run this year continued at the Hylo Open when they were knocked out by a Danish pair in straight games today.
Daniel Lundgaard and Mads Vestergaard, who are world No 26 took just 31 minutes to sweep aside the fourth-ranked Malaysian pair 21-9, 21-19 in Saarbrucken, Germany.
Sze Fei-Izzuddin have only entered two finals this year. They were eliminated in the early rounds in most of the World Tour championships this season.
The Malaysians are currently in the No 7 spot for the lucrative season-ending World Tour Finals to be played in Hangzhou, China, in December.
The other top Malaysian pairs of Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun are in the second and fifth place respectively.
With only eight pairs qualifying in each category, with a maximum of two representatives from each country and with five tournaments to go, their chances appear slim.
