PETALING JAYA:

Amanah is expecting to contest at least three seats at the upcoming Sabah state election.

Amanah communications director Khalid Samad said negotiations on seat allocations are ongoing among Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah.

He said the discussions must be finalised by the end of this month as the Sabah state assembly is likely to be dissolved next month, reported Utusan Malaysia.

“Right now, negotiations are taking place at several levels, including between PH and , PH and GRS, as well as within PH itself.

“We hope Amanah will be allocated two or three of the 73 seats in total,” he told reporters in Kota Bharu today.

Khalid said although Amanah is still in the early stages of establishing itself in Sabah, the party is optimistic about winning the seats it is eyeing in the state election.

In June, GRS leader Masiung Banah said the ruling coalition is expected to contest at least 53 seats in the state election, while PH will vie for 20 under their electoral pact.

GRS is working with PH for the state election, but is expected to clash with federal ally at the polls.
