THE ‘Tech The Emission Down’ campaign reached a new milestone on Aug 22 with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between ALL IT Hypermarket and nine strategic partners at The Secret Garden, 1 Utama Shopping Centre.
Among the signatories were 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Alliance Bank, Atome, Blueshark, MG, Microsoft, JBL, TP-Link and GoPro, who pledged their support in addressing Malaysia’s rising e-waste challenge.
The collaboration aims to encourage proper disposal of unwanted electronics and educate the public on the importance of timely action.
Through the campaign, consumers can conveniently drop off their e-waste at any ALL IT outlet or 1 Utama’s 1RECYCLING CENTRE (1RC), ensuring proper processing and safe handling.
DRIVING AWARENESS AND PARTICIPATION

Launched on June 1, the ‘Tech The Emission Down’ campaign will run until Dec 31, offering awareness programmes, exclusive incentives for responsible technology purchases and bi-monthly giveaways.
The campaign will conclude with two grand prizes, an MG4 EV car under the Ultimate EV Drive Prize, and a Blueshark R1 EV bike under the Electrifying Rider Prize.
“This ceremony represents more than just a symbolic signing — it’s about rallying our partners, customers, and communities to take action on e-waste,” said Cagen Tan, head of marketing at ALL IT Hypermarket.
“Together, we are stronger at shaping a sustainable tech future for Malaysia,” he added.
1 Utama Shopping Centre managing director Teo Chui Ping noted that the mall has long integrated sustainability into its operations.
“We are pleased to collaborate with ALL IT for shoppers to recycle e-waste at 1RECYCLING CENTRE through our Green Ninja E-waste campaign. E-waste collected was safely processed at an ISO-certified Jaring Metal facility to divert waste from landfills.
“As Malaysia’s first Green Mall, 1 Utama has championed sustainability since 1995, embedding green practices throughout our retail ecosystem.”
Alliance Bank group chief consumer banking officer Gan Pai Li emphasised the bank’s role in advancing ESG practices.
“This partnership cements Alliance Bank as a proponent of sustainability practices. As the Official Card Partner of this campaign, we are proud to work alongside like-minded industrial partners to inculcate the value of ESG practices among Malaysians.
“As The Bank For Life, we would like to look beyond the financial services horizon and play our part in championing ESG practices by incentivising our customers to make environmentally conscious decisions, particularly when it comes to proper e-waste management,” she said.
Atome Malaysia head of Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) Danny Lim highlighted the company’s focus on accessibility and innovation.
“Atome is committed to making sustainable technology more accessible to Malaysians by providing flexible payment solutions that encourage responsible choices. Through this campaign, we aim to empower consumers to take part in sustainability efforts without financial barriers, proving that innovation and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand,” he said.
