KUALA LUMPUR: Pengurusan Air Sdn Bhd (Air ) reaffirms its commitment to supporting Malaysia’s national development agenda by welcoming investments that drive sustainable growth, particularly those led by locally owned companies.

In line with this, Air is proud to support Basis Bay, a locally owned Malaysian technology company, in the development of the world’s first purpose-built Eco Green Premium Data Centre, Cyberjaya DC2.

The project marks a major milestone for Malaysia’s digital economy and sustainability ambitions, showcasing the country’s ability to host high-tech, environmentally responsible infrastructure.

Air Selangor chief executive officer Adam Saffian Ghazali said, “Air Selangor welcomes the Basis Bay Data Centre project as a key long-term partnership that supports a locally owned enterprise and reflects our commitment to enabling sustainable growth and supporting Malaysia’s digital transformation.

“As part of this support, we will provide a reliable water supply of 43,710 litres per day (L/day) for the first of three development phases of Basis Bay’s Eco Green Premium Data Centre. The subsequent phases will be supported progressively, in line with future development approvals and project requirements.

“As the largest water services provider in Malaysia, Air Selangor remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering high-impact developments through reliable and sustainable water supply, driving Malaysia’s progress toward a resilient and digitally advanced future,” added Adam.

Aligned with the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13), Air Selangor continues to play a key role for the Selangor state, which contributes around 26.2% of Malaysia’s GDP in 2024 and remains a key driver of the nation’s economic growth and innovation. While Selangor leads the country’s development, Air Selangor acts as a supporting force, ensuring a sustainable and reliable water supply that underpins the progress of the state as well as the nation.

The Cyberjaya DC2 project is a purpose-built Eco-Green Premium Data Centre, designed to support Malaysia’s journey toward secure, sovereign, and sustainable digital infrastructure.

The facility is built to the highest global standards and integrated eco-friendly innovations such as vertical greenery, solar energy generation, rainwater harvesting and energy-efficient cooling systems.

Cyberjaya DC2 also prioritises data sovereignty and cyber resilience, keeping sensitive national and financial data within Malaysia while meeting regulatory requirements.

The historic launch of the Cyberjaya DC2 was officiated by Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo, on Wednesday, highlighting a significant step forward in strengthening Malaysia’s position as a regional digital hub.

Reflecting Air Selangor’s ongoing support for Malaysian businesses, the company will continue to facilitate the necessary approvals and technical coordination to ensure smooth project delivery.
