KUALA LUMPUR: Police are searching for Muhammad Ammar Mohd Ariffin, 27, a member of the armed forces, whose last known location was in Sungai Kedondong, Batang Kali, .

Serdang police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhamad Farid Ahmad said authorities are seeking the public’s cooperation in the investigation.

Ammar’s family told Berita Harian today that he went missing last week.

“Since my younger brother went missing a week ago, our mother’s emotions have been unstable, and she often cries.

“We are worried about his safety as all efforts to find him have hit a dead end, and his mobile phone has been unreachable since Aug 24,” said Ammar’s sister, Anis Aqilah Mohd Ariffin.

Anis said her brother, a Senior Aircraftman with the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) based in Subang and currently undergoing a course at the RMAF Kinrara camp, last contacted her on Aug 22 before going on a picnic with his campmates at Sungai Kedondong on Aug 23.

The family filed a missing person’s report at the Hulu Yam police station on Aug 25, while a separate report was lodged by the military at the Kinrara police station the same day.

“Anyone with information about him is urged to go to the nearest police station or contact the investigating officer, Inspector Mohd Sukri Che Mat, at 03-80762222 or 03-80713136,” he said in a statement.
