PETALING JAYA: The government plans to expand its AI-driven X-ray screening initiative for high-risk groups to 150 health clinics next year.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the screenings, which go beyond lung cancer detection, also cover Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), asthma, tuberculosis and occupational lung diseases.

“The service is currently available at seven health clinics in Pendang, Seberang Jaya, Kajang Batu Sembilan, Cheras, Beserah, Kok Lanas and Luyang.

“We have the intention, the planning and the commitment to target another 150 clinics in 2026,” he said at a press conference after launching the Live, Laugh, Lungs campaign in conjunction with World Lung Day 2025.

The Health Ministry launched the initiative in May as a pilot programme in seven government health clinics, using advanced X-ray technology supported by artificial intelligence and data analytics to provide more accurate diagnoses.
