KUALA LUMPUR: A Richard Mille RM 40-01 McLaren Speedtail watch worth RM3mil (Rp11.7bil) belonging to suspended Indonesian lawmaker Ahmad Sahroni was returned after being reported missing when his residence in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, was looted.

Astro Awani reported that the watch belonging to the member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) from the National Democratic Party (NasDem) was returned after it was reported missing on Saturday (Aug 30).

A video of the watch being returned by a woman believed to be the mother of the individual who took the watch went viral.

Local media reported on Monday (Sept 1) that the woman said, “I told my son that this watch isn’t ours, and his father also explained the same. So, we returned it.”

The robbery at Ahmad Sahroni’s residence occurred on Saturday (Aug 30), leading to damage and theft of several items.

The head of the North Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Onkoseno Grandiarso Sukahar, confirmed that an investigation into the incident was underway.

“No one has been arrested yet,” he said.

Ahmad Sahroni’s home became the centre of public outrage after he described citizens advocating for the dissolution of the DPR as “the most stupid people in the world.” He also made insulting remarks about underage protest participants, referring to them as “brengsek” (useless).
