KANGAR, Aug 3 (Bernama) — The Agro MADANI Sales initiative in Perlis has generated RM652,000 in revenue from 41 events organised by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) since January.
FAMA Perlis director, Mohd Anzara Azizan, said the agency intends to continue organising these sales, with a target of 63 events scheduled for this year, in a bid to provide consumers with access to fresh produce at affordable prices.
He shared this information with reporters following a walkabout at the Agro MADANI Sales event held at the Masjid Al-Istiqamah Farmers’ Market in Teluk Jambu today.
Commenting on the event, Mohd Anzara highlighted that 70 MADANI Combo units were offered at RM6, reduced from the original price of RM10, with the response proving highly positive.
“The farmers’ market at the mosque benefits from a higher volume of visitors, as each congregation typically serves two or three villages, thereby increasing the purchasing power of local residents,” he explained.
To date, six farmers’ market locations have been successfully established at mosque sites across Perlis.
