Additional school holidays set for Aidilfitri in 2026 academic calendar


KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry has scheduled one to two days of additional holidays in the 2026 Academic Calendar in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebrations expected on March 21.

The additional leave, which differs for schools in Group A and Group B, allows teachers, parents and students to better plan their festive travel and preparations.

According to the academic calendar, schools in Group A, comprising Kedah, and Terengganu, will begin their additional leave on March 19 (Thursday).

Schools in Group B, covering Melaka, Johor, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, , and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and , will enjoy two days of additional leave on March 19 (Thursday) and March 20 (Friday).

The Aidilfitri break also coincides with the Term 1 holidays, giving students a longer rest period.

For Group A, the term break will run for nine days from March 20 to March 28, while Group B schools will be on break from March 21 to March 29.
