PETALING JAYA:

The additional allocation of subsidised RON95 petrol for e-hailing drivers under the BUDI95 initiative will be done in phases based on the total distance travelled in the previous month.

In a statement, the finance ministry said the additional allocation would be activated in the middle of each month.

E-hailing drivers who travelled less than 2,000km the previous month would not be given any additional allocation on top of the 300 litres they received.

But those who travelled between 2,000km and 5,000km will get an additional 300 litres of RON95, making them eligible for a total of 600 litres of subsidised petrol.

Meanwhile, those who travelled over 5,000km will get an additional 500 litres, which means they get a total of 800 litres under BUDI95.

“The distance travelled by every e-hailing driver will be calculated based on data recorded by all e-hailing operators. This will be managed by the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) and Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board in Sabah and Sarawak,” said the ministry.

It added that it was the responsibility of e-hailing operators to accurately furnish the record of distance travelled to the relevant agencies at the start of each month.

It said the various thresholds were determined based on the ministry’s study of data submitted by e-hailing operators and the actual use of BUDI95 allocated to drivers in September.

Fleet cards for airport taxis, but not limos

Also, companies that operate airport taxis can now apply for fleet cards under the domestic trade and cost of living ministry, which would give them an allocation of 800 litres of subsidised RON95 petrol a month.

However, airport limousines are not eligible for this, as their rates are not regulated by Apad.

Further information on the fleet card applications can be found here.

“The government remains committed to ensuring that this targeted subsidy programme is executed transparently and effectively, for the direct benefit of the rakyat.

“The ministry and relevant agencies will continue to monitor BUDI95’s implementation and carry out improvements from time to time,” said the Treasury.
