KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) has appointed G.Shanmugam as chief executive officer (CEO) effective from Sept 1.
Shanmugam has been serving as acting CEO since March, succeeding Dr. Wan Ahmad Rudirman Wan Razak, following the expiration of his contract.
“On behalf of the council, I trust that G Shanmugam will continue to steer the Institute’s growth. MIA looks forward to the continued support of all our stakeholders’ as we strive to develop and regulate the profession, uphold public interest, and enhance future relevance for nation building,” said MIA president Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Zabidi Ahmad in a statement.
Prior to this, he served as executive director of strategy and development, overseeing MIA’s strategy, systems, methods, communications, branding and development.
He contributed in formulating MIA’s strategic and operational plans, managing performance review and reporting, strengthening communications on the profession’s future relevance and driving CPD transformation and growth.
