KUALA LUMPUR: The Attorney-General’s Chambers (A-GC) today confirmed receiving the full investigation report regarding the seizure of cash linked to former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and his political secretary, Datuk Anuar Mohd Yunus
In a statement, the A-GC said the report was received on Sept 12.
It said the action of forfeiting assets to the Malaysian government without prosecution in relation was taken by the MACC, in accordance with the provisions of the law in force.
“The department emphasises that the investigation and the process of asset forfeiture and criminal charges are two different aspects.
“In this regard, although the MACC has initiated the action of asset forfeiture, the department will thoroughly examine the full investigation report.
“The process of examining the full investigation report will be carried out from various angles, including the aspects of evidence and elements of proof of the case, before any decision regarding criminal prosecution can be made.
“Any decision regarding this case will be announced after the review process of the full investigation report is completed,” the statement read.
The A-GC said it remains committed to ensuring that every decision is made independently, transparently, and in accordance with the provisions of the law.
