80-year-old man dies in Tambun house fire, four vehicles destroyed


An 80-year-old man perished in a fire that destroyed 80% of his terraced house in Taman Perpaduan Ria, Tambun, with four vehicles also lost

IPOH: An 80-year-old man died in a fire that destroyed his terraced house in Taman Perpaduan Ria near Tambun today.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department acting assistant director of operations Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah confirmed the victim’s body was discovered in a bedroom.

The house suffered 80% damage from the blaze that required multiple firefighting units to contain.

Firefighters from Tambun and Ipoh stations responded to a distress call received at 1 pm.

They received assistance from Menglembu and Bercham volunteer firefighters during the operation.

Four vehicles were completely destroyed in the incident, including a motorcycle parked in the garage.

Additional vehicles parked in front of the victim’s house were also consumed by the flames.

The fire spread to four neighbouring houses, causing damage ranging from 2% to 15%.

A Perodua Myvi car sustained 10% damage from the spreading fire.

The victim’s body has been handed over to police for further investigation. – Bernama
