KUALA LUMPUR: Sixty-one undocumented migrants and one Malaysian employer were detained in an immigration enforcement operation around Jalan Sembilang yesterday.
Op Kutip and Op Selera started at 9.30pm and was conducted by the Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department in collaboration with the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, Customs Department and police.
Kuala Lumpur Immigration director Wan Mohammed Saupee Wan Yusoff said 78 people were screened.
Of that number, 61 undocumented migrants and a local employer were arrested.
“The 44 male and 17 female detainees are from Myanmar, Bangladesh, Thailand, Indonesia and India.”
The detainees were taken to the Bukit Jalil Immigration Detention Depot.
