4WD driver thrown from vehicle, killed in North-South Expressway crash

SEREMBAN, Sept 14 — The driver of a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle was killed while his passenger was injured after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a car at Kilometre (KM) 276 of the North-South Expressway this morning.

Nilai district police chief Supt Abdul Malik Hasim said they received a report of the incident at about 6.50 am and that the 4WD vehicle driver, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries to the head after he was thrown from his vehicle during the crash.

“Preliminary investigations found that the victim with his passenger, also a man in his 20s, were from Bangsar heading to Seremban when he lost control of his vehicle and hit the divider on the right side of the road.

“The vehicle spun several times before it hit the back of a car driven by a man, in his 40s, carrying his wife and two teenage children, from Seri Kembangan heading to Johor, before flipping over,” he said in a statement here today, adding that the body of the 4WD driver was taken to Rembau Hospital for autopsy.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — Bernama
