4tify Projected To Generate US$20 Mln In Bio-material Sales Starting Next Year.

GEORGE TOWN, Sept 22 (Bernama) — BioNexus-status company 4tify Sdn Bhd (4tify) is projected to generate annual sales of US$20 million (RM84.2 million) starting in 2026 via the production of bio-materials for local and international distribution.

4tify is under Bioeconomy Corporation’s bio-based accelerator programme and has special status Bio-Nexus as a Malaysian biotechnology company.

Bioeconomy Corporation chief executive officer Mohd Khairul Fidzal Abdul Razak said:  “With a target to reach eight million kilogrammes (kg) of bio-based auxiliaries and 100,000 square feet of bioleather annually by 2027, 4tify is on track to become the leading global producer in its field.”

He said Bioeconomy Corporation will support this ambition by facilitating access to investors, research and development institutes, and international markets to empower 4tify to scale production to meet rising export demand from global fashion and textile brands.

During a visit to 4tify’s Penang facility, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang noted that 4tify’s technologies could cut carbon emissions by up to 61,500 tonnes annually across textile finishing and the leather industry by 2027 while advancing the circular economy and reducing reliance on imported petrochemical-based chemicals.

“4tify is positioning Malaysia at the forefront of global biomaterials innovation while creating new high-value skilled jobs such as bioprocess engineers, QC specialists and production scientists,” Chang said.

According to a ministry statement today, 4tify’s expansion supports sustainable and circular economy practices in Malaysia’s textile, leather, and industrial sectors by converting low-value agricultural waste into high-value sustainable biobased materials.

The statement said this will help reduce waste and carbon emissions and also create new industrial sub-sectors for the country.

4tify was internationally recognised as one of the top five plant-based startups and received accolades from StartUs USA. It was selected for the Y Combinator Startup School 2017/2018, the statement said.

Its innovations were also featured in the Plug & Play USA Sustainable Fashion Playbook.

4tify’s initiatives are also aligned with the National Biotechnology Policy 2.0, particularly in the Industrial Biotechnology and Circular Economy core, and support the Science, Technology and Innovation Policy 2021–2030, which emphasises the development of future-focused sustainable industries.
