ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police mounted a two-day roadblock operation in Nusabayu, Gelang Patah, to clamp down on illegal street racing activities that have long troubled residents and road users.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan said the operation, conducted from yesterday until the early hours of this morning at Km13 of the Second Link Highway towards Perling, saw 430 vehicles and 522 motorists inspected.

“Police issued 84 summonses for various traffic offences, including illegal exhaust modifications, fancy number plates, riding without a licence, lack of insurance coverage and missing side mirrors,” he said in a statement today.

He added that roadblocks would continue every weekend at the hotspot until illegal street racing is fully eradicated.

Kumarasan also urged parents to closely monitor their children, particularly those riding motorcycles, to prevent them from being drawn into dangerous street racing, which could result in serious injury or death.
